First Virtual Conference 15th July 2021
Following a successful Centenary Conference at St Anne’s College, Oxford in 2019, and given the difficulties of meeting in person, the first online Iris Murdoch Conference will take place at the University of Chichester in 2021. The conference will showcase ongoing, and published, Murdoch scholarship with a particular focus on communication and connection.
As the number of panels will be limited, we ask that all proposals be focused around these two themes (so that everyone can access all panels we will not be running concurrent panels). Anyone working in any field relating to Iris Murdoch and her circle is welcome to submit a proposal. We also welcome panel proposals of three papers linked by a common theme or text, again focused on the two themes.
Panel papers will need to recorded (audio/visual) in advance and sent to the organising committee via WeTransfer or another online medium, no later than 25th June 2021 so we can make them available to all on the 1st July 2021. Roundtable panel discussions will be the live element of the day, alongside the Plenary Lectures.
Please send abstracts of approximately 300 words by 1 April 2021, and any enquiries relating to the conference itself, to organisers Dr Miles Leeson and Dr Frances White, at ims@chi.ac.uk.
