Welcome to the new Iris Murdoch Society website! We hope you’ll enjoy the content on offer, along with the podcasts and free downloadable copies of the Iris Murdoch Review: and don’t forget to visit the shop! If you’re not a member as yet you can now join here. There hasn’t been a website for the Society in many years, and one of our main tasks for 2020 was to get this up and running. It’s been great to develop this with Sally Pilkington from Morph Creative, and if you have any feedback or ideas for how we can develop, do let us know. The website has been able to happen with the generous financial support of Audi Bayley, to which the Society organisers are deeply grateful. Any profit made from the website store or Society goes directly back into supporting the Archive and Research Centre as we are a not-for-profit organisation.
The website brings together materials from the Research Centre pages at Chichester, the archive at Kingston, and much else besides – and you can find directions to these pages on the Links page. The society exists to promote the work of Iris Murdoch and the blogposts and podcasts will be regularly updated throughout the year. Members also receive a regular newsletter direct to their inbox with details about the latest events, publications and more. You’ll also find the Society Facebook page feed, and the @IrisMurdoch Twitter feed, in the footer.
One of the major advances is that you can now join the society through the ‘Membership’ page, where you can also update your address/email and you’ll be automatically notified when your membership is due for renewal. As ever, if you have any questions or queries you can always email ims@chi.ac.uk for an answer.
All events, including the conferences, will now be booked via this website which should streamline the process. Hopefully we’ll begin to get back to normal next year.
